What we collect
When you create an account we store your email address and the display name, home city and taste preferences you choose to add. When you rate, review, save or check in at a shop we store that activity so we can build your ranked list and recommendations. If you invite a friend by text message we also store the phone number you enter, so we can prepare the invite text for you and match it to your friend if they join with that number — the text itself is sent from your own Messages app, and we do not use the number for anything else.
Location
If you allow it, we use your device location to show coffee shops near you and to name your current city. Location is used while you use the app and is not stored as a history. You can turn it off at any time in your device settings — the app still works, it just shows top-rated shops instead of nearby ones.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications on iPhone, we store the device token Apple gives us and link it to your account so we can send you friend recommendations, friends' reviews and a weekly shop suggestion. We use it for nothing else. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and the token is deleted if you delete your account.
Photos and reviews
Photos you upload and reviews you write are public inside the app alongside your display name. You can delete your own photos and reviews. Shop photos and ratings sourced from Google are shown with credit to Google.
Who we share with
We do not sell your data and we do not run third-party ad tracking. We use the following services to run the app:
Our hosting, account and database providers, including Lovable Cloud, receive and store your account details and the information you add, such as your profile, taste preferences, ratings, reviews, check-ins, saved shops, follows, invites and uploaded photos. They also receive connection information, such as your IP address, to serve the app and keep accounts secure. If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, that provider processes your sign-in request and shares the account details needed to sign you in.
Google Maps Platform, through Lovable's connector service, receives coordinates when we look up your current city, and place searches, shop addresses and listing or photo references when we look up shops. It provides geocoding, place details and shop photos — not the map tiles displayed in the app.
OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service receives the place names or addresses you search for, including a shop address you suggest, to find their coordinates. If our Google city lookup is unavailable or cannot find a result, Nominatim receives your device coordinates to name your current city. These lookups go through our server; we do not add your account details to the requests.
Maps are drawn with free map tiles from OpenFreeMap, built on OpenStreetMap data. Your device requests those tiles directly, so OpenFreeMap sees the map area being viewed and your IP address, as with any web request. Map data © OpenMapTiles © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License.
Lovable AI and the AI model provider it uses receive shop information, member review text and ratings, and check-in details such as drinks ordered and tasting notes to write short summaries shown on shop pages. We do not add member names, email addresses or account IDs to these requests, but anything you include in the text itself is sent with it.
Google Fonts receives requests for the fonts used in the app, including your IP address and connection information, so the text displays correctly.
Text invites
When you invite a friend by text message, we save the phone number you entered so we can match the invite to your friend when they join and show you whether it was accepted. We do not text that number ourselves or use it for marketing — the message is sent from your own phone. The invite and phone number are deleted if you delete your account.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from You → Delete account. That permanently removes your profile, ratings, reviews, check-ins, saved shops and uploaded photos. It cannot be undone.
